Best Find on Craigslist!
27. April 2008 by admin.
I originally pursued it for yet another surprise gnome for my parents yard… but now I’m having a hard time letting go. Sorry Dad, I think I’m going to keep him. I’m sure you’re disappointed. I think Seamus is an appropriate name.
As you can see by the pictures Buster isn’t shameful.

Look What I made!!
14. April 2008 by admin.
Paul has done it (with some supervision help from Buster, formally known as Buddy)! He added the finishing touches to the fence he’s been working on for three months now. We lost the original one in a El Nino type storm in early winter. It’s quite a fence, especially since he’s never built one before. It was a slow process because we ran out of funds after we started. Each week we’d buy a few more boards and add them on. Finally it’s a full on fence. Now we can sit in the backyard with a little privacy.
Paul wasn’t the only productive one today. Petu caught two gophers today. If you haven’t been counting, the tally is now 4. I secretly encourage him because they are ruining my gardening efforts….I have a hard enough time without them. I think the diet we recently put him on played a role. I think I’ll cut down his food a little more.
PS. We’re still trying out names for the dog and I think we decided. Instead of Buddy he is now officially called Buster Hooligan MacRoss. Buster for short.

Yea! Visitors.
14. April 2008 by admin.
Jennifer and Dan came into town this weekend and brought great weather with them. They did more in two days than we’ve done since we moved here. Now, they’re down in Pacific Grove with Janet doing even more things. It was a quick visit but they made the most of their time. It was great to see familiar faces in these parts. Plus, the beach cruisers got broken in.

Bissell Green monster to the rescue!
8. April 2008 by admin.
Well it’s been about 24 hours and I don’t have any regrets about Buddy. Trust me, he’s testing the waters. Good thing for the Bissel green monster I cleaned up one of the tests that happened on the rug. He also ran off and I had to chase him. I thought I’d never see him again but then a dog came along and distracted him enough for me to grab him. That’s not going to happen again. Nobody said it would easy.
On the plus side, I gave him a nice bath today so he no longer smells like crud, which is nice. He actually enjoys getting groomed. He also had some time away from the cone today but it only lasted 3 hours before he started licking his rash again. Yea! my dog’s got jock itch! So the cone’s back on. Now he looks more like the RCA Dog but instead of listening to the phonograph, he’s in it.
He’ll have his first day on his own tomorrow because it’s back to work for me. We’ll see how that goes. Here’s some shots while he had the cone off and Petu watching as he got a bath.

Buddy! ~ our newest member to the family
8. April 2008 by admin.
Today we took a nice drive south on highway 1 along the coast to Santa Cruz. Our objective was to get some coffee and check out a dog at the SPCA. We never got the coffee but got the dog. His name was Bartholomew but now we call him Buddy…he’s got bulging eyes like Buddy Cianci. We’ve been wanting a dog for a while and now we found him. He’s a good match for Petu as well. They like to sniff each other and knock noses. He’s a Boston Terrier mix alot. He’s got a cone on his head due to a rash he got on his belly after he was neutered. Without it he licks the area and irritates it more. It’ll be on for one more week.
Well that’s it for now, it was a big day and we’re pooped. I’ll write more about Buddy the next couple of days but for now here’s a picture on our way back up highway 1.

Beach Cruiser ~
6. April 2008 by admin.
If you live this close to the ocean you have beach cruisers not bicycles. Our friends Amberlyn and Joe dropped this one off to us today. It’s on permanent loan until we don’t want it anymore. So, now we finally have two. The bike makes me feel like a kid again…..I need all my strength to pedal and braking is all or nothing. The part that makes me feel like a kid is that physical activity equals pain. So far, I’ve gone up and done our little side street. It’s great!

Petu ~ The Hunter
2. April 2008 by admin.
After hours and hours staring at the ground for any signs….Petu has caught another little gopher. I can’t say the same for Carl the gnome. Although they’re tearing up our garden, I can’t help but to feel bad. This is the second one since we lived here. So, I’ve got to go bury it near the other guy in the corner. We may have to make a grave yard with little headstones soon. I won’t show you a picture of the actual gopher…gross. But here’s a picture of Petu after his victory…now on lock down in the house, and pissed.

Craftzine Blog~ “Sandymac draws inspiration for her paintings and prints from her toy collection–I love this one, which features two bunny-shaped Pez dispensers.”
Real Simple~ “Affordable Art Round-up For Kids….
Sandy Mac and her PEZ dispensers are fun, especially if you love a little retro!”
Also… CMAILLE - The things we like & Chick and Charming - A modern salon for smart and fashionable women.
That’s fun.

Updating other peoples cr@p
2. April 2008 by admin.
I’ve been scouring the Free stuff on Craiglist lately. Mostly due to the lack of money in our bank account. By using my excess paint from my decorative painting business, I’ve made over a few items that were ready for the dump. Not bad for free….. plus it gives me a chance to try a few new finishes for my portfolio.

Carl the Gnome gets a makeover
2. April 2008 by admin.
Carl has come a long way. When we lived in RI, Carl was kidnapped and held for an extensive period of time. He was finally released back to us and mailed across country. Upon his arrival he was quite worn and had a big hole in the back of his head. We then gave him a makeover. Paul first filled him with cement to fill the hole in the back of his head. It also made him so heavy it would prevent future kidnappings. Then I gave him a new paint job with snappy new plaid pants. He stands guard…watching the gophers dig up our lawn.
