It’s really been awhile…sorry.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know it’s been awhile.  Here’s some babblings.

The Ross family came for a visit last month.  They came, they saw and they liked.  We had a good time too.

Petu went missing for three days.   We were like two frantic parents.  I had a feeling he was stuck somewhere so I asked the neighbor to check her garage.  He was in there.  Needless to say he’s on house arrest now, with limited fresh air access.

Paul got a broken chainsaw on Craigslist with the thought of fixing it.  Will update the exciting progress.  Presently it’s not going so well.

It’s been awhile.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted.    Mostly due to the lack of a computer.  Ours finally came to a slow death.  Apple geeks took their sweet time to tell us it wasn’t worth saving.   Needless to say we had to get a new computer.  Funny though, MACs are the only thing that don’t inflate.  We got more computer for the same price we paid for our old one.  This model comes with a camera built in…which has potential for a lot of fun.  It also does different effects…fun.  We still have our old one, it’s a fine paper weight.

Well that’s it for now, I’ve got to get cleaning.  Paul’s dad, Jane and the two kids(who are now young adults) are coming into town for a visit.   I’m sure there will be lots to type about when they come.

Cheers…Sandy

Free things to do…

Janet and Ray came up this weekend, it was good to see them both. I took some picture of our adventures…

We took the stroll up Telegraph Hill hoping to see the wild parrots. They flew up and perched just as we were walking back down. If you don’t know There was a documentary about the parrots- http://www.wildparrotsfilm.com/.

They don’t know where they come from but they live in the wild and made their home on Telegraph Hill. It’s a good place for wild parrots. While your walking telegraph hill it doesn’t feel like your in a city at all. You can’t access it by car, only stairs. makes it interesting for the houses along this path. The residents must have the best calf muscles. If you keep going to the top you get to Coit Tower. There’s quite a view of the city from the top but we didn’t do it…long line, overcast and you had to pay.

Carnie Fun in Pacifica… Paul and Janet both won fine art. Celebrated w/ cotton candy.

The next day we took a drive 10 minutes south to a beach along highway 1. According to a breathless woman we passed on the staircase, it was 148 steps down a cliff to get to the beach but was worth it.

Buster doesn’t like the water

Horseshoes at Cameron’s in Half Moon bay

It’s HOT!!!!!

Damn it’s hot. We’re having a heat wave. Went from 65 to 95 overnight. It’s been two days so far and I’m all set. It forced me into less clothing and my winter body wasn’t ready for it. It does cool down at night though…which is a plus.

Buster and Petu don’t like it either. Although Petu tends to lay sit in the shade now, which is good. Otherwise, he sits staring at gopher holes under the hot sun then I have to put sunscreen on his ears. Don’t laugh…white cats are prone to skin cancer on their ears. I saw one at the vet and it wasn’t pretty. If he sits under the shade the neighbors won’t think I’m such a freak putting sunscreen on my cat.

Well I’m off to show my bluish white legs to the world now.

Enjoy your day.

Petu’s made a friend…

Our neighbors have a new cat that is so adorable, I want to kidnap him. Although, I really don’t need to now because he’s always in our yard hunting gophers with Petu. It’s really quite cute. They just hang out together. I think Buster is a tinge jealous of this new found friend of Petu’s. . . three’s a crowd.

The count its up to FIVE …scratch that….6!

Petu caught his fifth gopher today. He came strutting in the backyard like a proud lion….As if his two little cotton balls grew back for just a few minutes. We buried him with the rest. We didn’t wait for the hawks to take him away.

Best Find on Craigslist!

I originally pursued it for yet another surprise gnome for my parents yard… but now I’m having a hard time letting go. Sorry Dad, I think I’m going to keep him. I’m sure you’re disappointed. I think Seamus is an appropriate name.

As you can see by the pictures Buster isn’t shameful.

Look What I made!!

before-fence.JPG  blog-1.jpg

Paul has done it (with some supervision help from Buster, formally known as Buddy)!  He added the finishing touches to the fence he’s been working on for three months now.  We lost the original one in a El Nino type storm in early winter.  It’s quite a fence, especially since he’s never built one before.  It was a slow process because we ran out of funds after we started.  Each week we’d buy a few more boards and add them on.  Finally it’s a full on fence.  Now we can sit in the backyard with a little privacy.

Paul wasn’t the only productive one today.  Petu caught two gophers today.  If you haven’t been counting, the tally is now 4.  I secretly encourage him because they are  ruining my gardening efforts….I have a hard enough time without them.  I think the diet we recently put him on played a role.  I think I’ll cut down his food a little more.

PS.  We’re still trying out names for the dog and I think we decided.  Instead of Buddy he is now officially called Buster Hooligan MacRoss. Buster for short.

Yea! Visitors.

Jennifer and Dan came into town this weekend and brought great weather with them. They did more in two days than we’ve done since we moved here. Now, they’re down in Pacific Grove with Janet doing even more things. It was a quick visit but they made the most of their time. It was great to see familiar faces in these parts.  Plus, the beach cruisers got broken in.

Bissell Green monster to the rescue!

img_6198.JPG

Well it’s been about 24 hours and I don’t have any regrets about Buddy. Trust me, he’s testing the waters. Good thing for the Bissel green monster I cleaned up one of the tests that happened on the rug. He also ran off and I had to chase him. I thought I’d never see him again but then a dog came along and distracted him enough for me to grab him. That’s not going to happen again. Nobody said it would easy.

On the plus side, I gave him a nice bath today so he no longer smells like crud, which is nice. He actually enjoys getting groomed. He also had some time away from the cone today but it only lasted 3 hours before he started licking his rash again. Yea! my dog’s got jock itch! So the cone’s back on. Now he looks more like the RCA Dog but instead of listening to the phonograph, he’s in it.

He’ll have his first day on his own tomorrow because it’s back to work for me. We’ll see how that goes. Here’s some shots while he had the cone off and Petu watching as he got a bath.
